The Rehbergers lived on a farm south of Lebanon, formerly Route 1, now State Route 4. Omar & Doris Rehberger stilll live in the family home, finished in 1863 by Andreas Rehberger, father of Andrew, fater of Ralph, father of Omar. Edward Haas & May Yarber lived across the road from the Andrew Rehberger family & Mathilda would visit her brother Edward. That's how she met Ralph. Ralph Rehberger died in a flash flood that occurred just north of the family home. He was 67 years old & saved six lives. It was in the headlines of all St.Louis newspapers. Mathilda died of a heart attack in her sleep at the family home.
