Bahrs, Ludwig 1
Ludwig "Louis" was shot and killed in a brawl in the tavern of Peter Clemens at St. Nazianz on October 19, 1904. He was a well driller from Kiel. An argument started between Louis Bahrs and Frand Birkle over a glass of beer. Birkle is said to have pulled a gun and shot Bahrs twice, killing him instantly. During January of 1905 Birkle faced a murder charge, but the jury came back with a verdict of guilty of manslaughter. He was sentenced to from four to seven years and later paroled. He ended up killing his wife Blanche in 1935. Ludwig married Barbara Williams, daughter of Johannes Gerhardt Willems and Klara Mayer, on Aug 28, 1890 in New Holstein, Calumet, Wisconsin, USA. (Barbara Williams was born on Aug 12, 1868 in Russell, Sheboygan, Wisconsin, USA and died on Jul 13, 1936 in New Holstein, Calumet, Wisconsin, USA.) |
